FIRST THOUGHTS: “Will it really make the colors POP?”

The product on spotlight today has always been a rage among makeup lovers. This cult favorite has made its way into sooo many makeup collections and is indeed, a heaven sent from the makeup goddesses that run NYX cosmetics.

NYX Jumbo Pencils are a chubby little pencil style product, housed in white plastic packaging. It was designed to be used as both liner and an all over color, but most people use them as an eyeshadow base. It comes in almost every color imaginable; a total of 28 colors available ranging from opaque mattes to shimmer finishes. And with 5g of product in each stick, it will last quite a while too.

So what makes it special? Well, aside from the price, the mineral oils help the product to have this soft and creamy texture. It glides on smoothly without tugging the skin and blends nicely to give an all over color to the lid. These babies work amazingly as an eyeshadow base (colors will appear more vibrant) and an inner corner and brow bone highlight.

Top: Lavender; Bottom: Milk

On the flipside, NYX says that the pencils are anti-crease, but that’s up for debate. With oils present, it tends to slide off, crease and smudge if not set with an eyeshadow. Another thing, I haven’t actually sharpened these so I can’t say how it goes, but it doesn’t fit a regular jumbo sharpener so you have to buy the one from NYX. (Nice strategy, huh?) These all sound rather negative, but they’re great quality and for the price, they can’t be beat.

I know I’ll be buying this in more colors! Wish list: French Fries, Iced Mocha, Purple, Yogurt… and NYX sharpener. :)

PRICE: varies; Php150-Php250
WHERE TO FIND: Skye Avenue

NYX, The Drugstore Diva. Agree? haha

Well hello, my name is Kim! And I'm the brains, face and arm (for swatching) behind this blog.

I spend parts of my day trying one lipstick after another and fangirling over fictional characters. The rest, I’m working to save for a first-class “trip around the world” ticket, a couple of pretty shoes and travel-sized beauty products to bring along with me.

WANT MORE? Of course you do!
